The Real Summer of Moonglow; you may be asking yourself, 'Who is Summer of Moonglow?' You may have lived your entire life on Verity Isle and have never even heard of Governor Summer of Moonglow. And who can blame you when this city's governor is never around.
Summer[BooB] had used up all his administration's sick leave and vacation days before his first month in office even ended. Where is the leadership that was promised to the citizens of Moonglow? I can tell you, I live a stone's throw from the bank and Governor's office and I have not felt any leadership at all.
Let's take a look at Summer's positions of leadership outside of his tenure as Governor of Moonglow. He's been a co-leader in the guild BooB for quite some time. How has BooB been faring under his influence? Summer and BooB's absent Guild Leader Erebus have run the Shard's once largest, most active guild into the ground. This guild's decline began the night BooB's longest serving and most accomplished member, Cady, left to form her own guild. When Cady's leadership and charisma left BooB, BooB died. There were no leaders in BooB at that point to fill this void, Erebus, Nyx, Red Beard, Thanatos, and Summer, they all failed to take the reigns and continue the momentum that had taken BooB to its heights.
How did Summer become BooB's first Co-Guild Leader?
It is obvious the answer to that question isn't merit, character, or competence. So how did Summer, a relatively new member of BooB, so quickly become the Blood Order's first Co-Guild Leader? Bribes and promises of political favors! Summer came into great wealth before joining BooB, how? He's not clear on the specifics of his capital ventures at all. He has a history of shady deals, aliases, and a number of unsolved missing person cases he keeps hidden in his past. Some people use the word 'scammer' to describe his accumulation of wealth.
Since Summer became Co-Guild Leader of BooB, Erebus, BooB Guild Leader, went on to win an uncontested Governorship in Minoc. Whatever happened to Erebus's competitor in Minoc, the Esteemed Jennifer Jolly? Minoc Guards quickly discontinued investigations into that unsolved missing persons case. Jennifer Jolly has yet to be seen in Sosaria since midway through that election. It has been noted that Erebus's campaign deployed the same thug tactics in Minoc that Summer regularly employs in Moonglow. Moonglow deserves better than be represented by a shady thug!
Summer has not demonstrated leadership skills in any of his endeavors, in Moonglow, or outside his political position.
Summer's inability to lead is overshadowed by his deceitful and sneaky actions. As a member of BooB he had been in and out of other guilds, displaying an enormous lack of leadership and loyalty. And has on occasion even attacked his own guildmates while attempting to conceal his identity to his BooBmates.
Summer made grand promises that never went fulfilled. He promised to cull the outrageous mongbat population that has overrun Verity Isle.
The vermin infestation has only been exacerbated under his lack of leadership, there are more mongbats than ever on Verity Isle. Walking to the steps of my house can be a frightful and disgusting feat at all times of day, and marked rune locations are regularly blocked by these pests. Absent leadership has allowed citizen's waste to collect in the city limits and no effort to clean the city has been made by Governor Summer.
Furthermore, rumors have filled the air in Moonglow city limits of alleged sexual indiscretions concerning Governor Summer and BooB's Queen Nyx. In Erebus's extended absence from Sosaria, Summer and Nyx have been spotted together sneaking around taverns in other cities to avoid being spotted. Rumors abound that their relationship is more than professional have stained Summer's credibility even further. BooB has a long history of such scandals among its leaders, is that the kind of organization you want your governor to be associated with?
Moonglow is a city with its history rooted in the study and practice of magic. Summer has been seen practicing the arts of archery, throwing, and taming. There are those who doubt whether or not he can manage to cast a first circle Magery spell with any success.
Summer's narrow range of experiences and proficiencies leave many wondering whether he has the ability to understand most Moonglow citizen's day to day concerns and way of life. Is he really the leader that will propel Moonglow to be a prosperous city in the future? Has he ever had the qualifications to manage a city like Moonglow, especially when he obviously struggles to manage his guild and his personal affairs?
